RADICAL AND INTENSE, THE NEW WORLD ORDER
Preface
The original intention of the article was to present a timeline of historical events that occurred during the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in the 1960s then to examine what the opening square might hold in the coming years. While there are plenty of references to historical events, the article contains more useful information as to when the effects of outer planet transits actually begin and end. My years of experience with lunations and weather forecasting led me to try to explain how the planet energies actually play out, much before the expected timing.
The Conjunction Aspect
Do the effects of an outer planet square begin on the exact date of the transit or even sooner giving a one or two degree orb? Many an astrologer would say yes to the question, but as an experienced long range weather forecaster, I can say the answer is no. The effects of this major square will begin to impact us and the world as soon as next year as evidenced by studying the lunations.
In the 20th century, Uranus and Pluto conjoined on October 9, 1965, but the effects of the planet pairing began years earlier. Here in the United States the culture shock that resulted reverberates in our daily life with every waking breath brought the new and constantly changing world to a crescendo. People of the world watched America grow into a Superpower and succeed on many levels. The strength of our nation as a world leader is now being tested and will continue to be tested as the square between the planets applies over the next several years and for years beyond 2012, hence, the New World Order.
Since the 1960s, the culture shock brought the technological explosion, the sexual revolution, the drug culture, the population explosion, the deadly political climate and the Moon landing - all to be revisited and revised under the stress and strain a square aspect can produce.
For the first time in history, the common man had a ringside seat to the world watching a television that took months to acquire (there was a waiting list back in the 1960s) to watch the news of the changes coming to daily life. The war in Viet Nam, the burning bras as a feminist movement became headline and TV news. A typical citizen of the times would be the home maker with children and a husband who was climbing a solid and predictable career ladder. Popular TV shows were Father Knows Best - remember that one? Lost in Space was another favorite show that captured the sense of the new energy about to rock the world. Yet the 1960s were disruptive and can be compared to what is happening today.
With television talk shows gaining popularity, the now famous Tonight Show featured Paul R. Ehrlich, an entomologist, who was also researching human overpopulation. In 1968 he wrote a book, The Population Bomb, where he reflected on a world of two billion beings increasing to six billion beings by the year 2000 and the chaos that overpopulation would cause. He was right! We now know crowded highways as well as stiff competition for jobs are but a few of the current problems. The square aspect will play a part in resolving those issues and many more.
The horror show of the violent side of the Uranus and Pluto conjunction in the 1960s were the assassinations of the first Catholic president elected, John F. Kennedy and John's brother Robert Kennedy with Martin Luther King and Malcolm X finding their date with destiny as well. It was a time of race riots, Go-Go Girls, The Great Blackout in the northeast, and Cassius Clay (aka Mohammed Ali). The new technology enabled the USA to have the first Man on the Moon and an artificial heart plus heart transplant successes.
The list goes on and on and the conjunction has left us a heritage of social change that will be recorded in the history tablets as an awakening beyond belief. Since the 1960s the phrase 'may you live in interesting times' has often been repeated and nevermore so right now.
The Square AspectWe are now approaching the opening square of Uranus and Pluto, first exact square on June 24, 2012. Astrologers around the globe are familiar with this particular year because of the prophecies that currently exist, one being that the Mayan calendar ends at this time. Bruce Scofield has studied this area of astrology and should be read to better understand the premise. Gary Christen, president of Astrolabe, Inc. has spoken of the future in his annual solstice talks for many years. You would be wise to listen to the talks and reflect on the possibilities that befall us in the years to come. Gary is a master Uranian astrologer and paints a rational picture of what he thinks we can expect.
A square between planets usually indicates a time of stress and decision making under duress. It is a forced action, a difficulty between the two energies. Both planets involved in the Uranus Pluto square are what we term 'outer planets' and are labeled as planets of radical change and violence, or in weather forecasting, the specialty study of the author, the forecast would include the phrases of high pressure with sudden temperature changes along with intense pressure and violent shifts of temperature. In winter, extraordinary cold and summer, extraordinary heat. Either would be extreme conditions.
As a people, we may try to resist change, but with Pluto entering the picture, there is no way to bargain with the energy. I think of Pluto as a tidal wave…or tsunami of energy that moves onto the globe. A good example is to understand how the world has changed because of the internet since another important conjunction took place, the Uranus and Neptune in the early 1990s. About 500 years earlier, the tidal wave energy of the printing press affected the world.
The point is to understand what the conjunction aspect of Uranus and Pluto has brought to society, then to figure out what areas of life will have an ungodly shift now that the opening square is soon to be in effect. How would the early effects of these transits affect the individual?
What do you consider to have been 'extreme' changes since the 1960s? Would it be the sexual revolution or the drug culture, the space age, or the age of computers and the internet? The idea is to explore how the changes will affect the individual or the country? We are moving so fast in this modern age that absorbing the 'new' in relation to the 'old' is almost impossible. Older folks can easily see how well the younger generation has managed the new technology - they were born into it. For the elderly, it is very difficult to let go of the old ways; some never will and will be left behind to reflect on the way it 'used to be'.
Uranus will move into the youthful sign Aries and is sure to bring the new, the progressive, and the sudden and shocking aggressive nature of Uranus. Pluto would be more conservative in the sign Capricorn, therefore the word revolutionary actions is not farfetched at all.
I would also like to point out that as of the writing of this article, the presidential election on November 4, 2008 promotes the word 'change' - it is the major sound byte of the current campaign. The current astrological transit (Nov 2008) of Saturn in opposition to Uranus is in concert with the fall of Wall St. and the problems with the banking industry - shocking to most and a panic for many.
Panic is a word easily said when there is a hard aspect from Uranus due to the shock value associated with the planet. If we understand a coming panic, just as we understand the approach of a hurricane, then we can begin to prepare for what is needed to survive in a stressful time in history. A panic situation throws the general public into chaos and chaos can touch anyone. Jolting us into a new financial reality, the opposition of Saturn and Uranus is just the first of five oppositions through 2010, sort of greasing the way for the changes that will without a doubt take place under the Uranus square Pluto as the higher order of change.
Historical Facts - Will History Repeat itself Again?
Historical events of the past can be examined to remind us of what the future may hold. Using our wonderful systems of astrology (western tropical) should give us images and ideas of when the wave of the future will affect the world and right down to our own personal involvement.
After the initial conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in 1965, the dates of the opening squares are essential to review. In the year 1500, there was a single exact square of Uranus and Pluto. In 1623 to 1624 there were three exact squares to contend with. However, from 1755 to 1758, the radical colonists felt the changing times with seven riveting squares propelling them into the future from revolution to war. During those years, it was dissention and taxation that led to the separation from the mother country - England. In 1876 to 1877, three exact squares highlighted a severe and historical panic. The dates of the panic from 1873-1878 clearly identify the early influence of the opening square before the first exact contact.

Future Opening Squares - Seven Exact Squares!
The opening square of Uranus and Pluto begins on June 24, 2012 and lasts through March 16, 2015, seven exact squares. It is overwhelming to think of this length of time for the kind of energy we will experience. And, in actuality, the effects of the square will begin much earlier, in 2009 and last well beyond 2015. The early effects from the Saturn and Uranus opposition have already been experienced. Before long, the early effects of the opening square of Uranus and Pluto will be quite evident. The 1965 conjunction Uranus and Pluto in Virgo along with the opposition to Saturn all took place in mutable signs. When Uranus and Pluto are in the cardinal signs of Aries and Capricorn beginning in 2010, the rapid advances will begin.
Forecasting With Lunations - How to view the early arrival of planet energies.
Many astrologers or astrometeorologists work with the lunations, observing the effects of the new, full and quarter Moons at a chosen location. When the angles of a lunar phase chart are populated by 2 or more planets within a close orb of a few degrees, it is called a mundane square or we say that the planets are in paran. A paran is when two or more planets are angular, such as on a lunation or other mundane chart, when in longitude, but the orb of aspect can be wide or even none at all. The nature of the planets is the energy that will manifest and the nature of the planet is modified by the sign it occupies and by the aspects it makes to other planets. Once understood, it is not complicated at all. The explosive nature of the mundane square is as potent as any square in orb in signs.
During the early morning of the full Moon September 15, I awoke to the news that Lehman Brothers had gone down the tubes, so to speak. The lunation had Uranus with the Moon which would explain the shock value of the news. Saturn on this day was applying to the opposition with Uranus, but it would seem that the energy had played out the message. I wrote to a few of my email groups with the observation that the applying opposition is playing out the chaos and disorder promised when the opposition was exact. Later that same day, the market dropped about 500 points and since then, the domino effect has brought down many a once fine establishment. The world is on edge and on October 29th, TV investment reporters said that this action (Lehman's collapse) will bring more stability to the banking world. However, the TV investment reports didn't say when, obviously because they just don't know. The lunations are the way to see the early effects of planetary transits.
The autumn weather through December 21, 2008 is as chaotic as the financial message - early winter and stormy weather events. As the season unfolds, by November the weather will deteriorate along the northeast USA. Keep in mind that the rest of the nation will experience the same stormy fronts that will affect New England as the weather usually comes ashore in the northwest and over the plains onto the east, sometimes south, just west or over the northeast.
There are a number of lunations in this autumn 2008 season that produce a forecast of severe storms. Mercury flits from one hard aspect to another with the malefics. This same stormy energy relates to mundane events as well, giving a clear indication of trouble in the political world and financial world.

Both candidates had a power aspect that peaked and passed and is now in a separating mode at the time of election. John McCain has the edge in the power aspect; the full details found in the articles.
The effect is decidedly an inability to work successfully with anything new during the term of office. Picking up the pieces of the erratic markets will be a full time workload as well as the residual problems. The specific aspect that each of the candidates has is one that Ann found to also indicate the length of service and the type of presidency that will result. Again, whoever wins the office will serve one term only and will have less focus, power and accomplishment.
Ann's work is simply extraordinary. What I found in power aspects is that both Hillary and Sarah will have their power aspect in 2012. What do you think of that? Will it be a choice of ladies in the next election? Sarah Palin is currently featured in our editorial section of the newspaper. She is deemed focused on setting her sights on the elections of 2012. How did they know!
I interpret this autumn 2008 season to be the harbinger of change that is more obvious than not. Astrologers have seen the enormous changes coming for many years - and the changes will have to be dealt with by whoever is elected. It will be impossible to keep any individual campaign promises or plans.
