A MAGNIFICENT PARALLEL For WINTER 2006
Long Range Weather Forecasting allows the astrometeorologist to observe weather and other events well into the future. In late September 2005 before the media blitz of a possible pandemic, I was gathering data to prepare the winter forecast. I saw a grouping of planets that demanded immediate investigation. Would the resulting events of this influence bring extraordinary weather or other mundane events to the world?
The alignment of planets for the winter of 2005-6 suggests global events that will affect a greater part of the population. In this article I have included 3 transiting declination graphs and a number of charts and maps of eclipses and ingresses to aid in the analysis of what may come our way. The text should be easy enough to understand for those who are not familiar with the graphics displaying transiting declination of planets. Time does not allow further investigation to compare the planet lineup with well timed geographical foundation charts of nations; the analysis would be too large. I urge mundane and long range weather astrologers to check their local charts for impact. One dilemma for the USA is to decide which natal chart is useful. The use of local ingress and lunation charts for weather forecasting has proven to be an excellent source of information.
THE PLANETS - WINTER 2006
Using the measurement of planets in declination, a system of viewing the position of the solar system planets north or south of the celestial equator, an uncommon grouping of planets are aligning in January and February 2006. They appear on the standard seasonal graph I prepare for the transiting planets in declination. It was a shock to see the grouping of planets as I had investigated several sustained natal declinations (by progression) of friends, family and clients over several years. Major life events resulted from the sustained progressions. It is likely the 'Magnificent Parallel' will provide no less.

The 2005-6 winter graph of transiting planets in declination is created for 95 days beginning December 21, 2005 to March 25, 2006. Please note where zero degrees is located on the graph and note the position of the planets as they move along from left to right. Pluto (black line) and Neptune (Aqua line) are already parallel, but in mid-January, Venus (green line) joins with Jupiter (blue line) to parallel (conjoin) the existing parallel of Neptune and Pluto. Think of it - 4 planets together for two months - Pluto, Neptune, Jupiter and Venus.
Many scenarios come to mind with the grouping of planets. One might think of a grand slam lottery winner, a royal marriage, even a period of altruism - that could be true, but in reality, we are faced with global terrorism, an existing war that could escalate and the possibility of a pandemic of the bird flu. Would it be possible to break out in peace or create a cure for a deadly disease? The past joining of Neptune and Pluto reflected the war and pestilence issues but Saturn was involved, not Jupiter and Venus. (see graphs below)
During this winter, the parallel of Mars and Saturn occurs in January along with the Moon which excites the area. In early February, the Sun and Mercury cross the grand parallel. The eight planets are in concert, but what is the tune? Mars and Saturn parallel are a classic storm combination as is the Sun and Mercury together disturbing the atmosphere - but where will this happen and to what degree of impact? Further in the article I will provide suggestions and a world solarmap of the winter ingress chart (Sun into Capricorn 2005).
PLUTO AND NEPTUNE PARALLEL IN 1862-63
The parallels of Neptune and Pluto occur infrequently and in recent history* major events define the last two parallels. In 1862-3 the USA was in the midst of the Civil War and a grave assortment of diseases prevailed. President Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, another important event in USA history. In France, Louis Pasteur discovered the method of Pasteurization (germ research benefiting the whole world). Pluto and Neptune not only in parallel but positioned on the equator at zero degrees of declination, a position of known importance for impact and change. In 1863 Saturn joined the pair but crossed paths only once, in late August, adding misery to the raging War Between the States.

PLUTO AND NEPTUNE + PARALLEL IN 1917-18
Global events were the result of the Neptune Pluto parallel in 1917-18. History shows World War I, the Russian revolution had crested and in 1918 the gruesome death toll from the Spanish Flu Pandemic. A recent internet article describes some of the impact of influenza locally in New York City. Many of the graphics displayed here are based in New York City.

Epidemiological evidence of an early wave of the 1918 influenza pandemic in New York City
Departments of Epidemiology and Pediatrics and Center for Public Health Preparedness, Columbia University, New York, NY 10032; and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD 20892
Edited by Edwin D. Kilbourne, New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, and approved June 20, 2005 (received for review November 7, 2004)
The 1918 "Spanish flu" was the fastest spreading and most deadly influenza pandemic in recorded history. Hypotheses of its origin have been based on a limited collection of case and outbreak reports from before its recognized European emergence in the summer of 1918. These anecdotal accounts, however, remain insufficient for determining the early diffusion and impact of the pandemic virus. Using routinely collected monthly age-stratified mortality data, we show that an unmistakable shift in the age distribution of epidemic deaths occurred during the 1917/1918 influenza season in New York City. The timing, magnitude, and age distribution of this mortality shift provide strong evidence that an early wave of the pandemic virus was present in New York City during February-April 1918.

TRANSITING DECLINATIONS GRAPH FOR WINTER 1917-18
It is very easy to find the parallel of Neptune and Pluto across the graph. Saturn enters the picture early on and cohabits with Neptune and Pluto for the rest of the winter season. Note that Jupiter is not that far away, perhaps Jupiter is the 'global' influence. In longitude, Mars is retrograde in February and March 1938 in Libra, then Virgo. In 2006, Mars is out of a retrograde period in Taurus but remaining in the sign Taurus until mid-February.
THE SOLAR ECLIPSE OF DECEMBER 1917 - NEW YORK, NY
Observing a solar eclipse chart in retrospect reveals that Mars, the ruler of the ascendant (the place, the city) and is related to fevers or violence, is square to the eclipse point. Mars is found in the sign of Virgo associated with the areas of the military and public health issues.
Since WWI was raging, the square of Mars to the Sun and Moon easily confirms one impact of the aspect. The analysis of the sign Virgo and health issues cannot be excluded where so many died of the flu. Note that Pluto is in the 8th house of death for this eclipse chart.
During the 1917-18 winter season, the planet Uranus advanced to 25 degrees of Aquarius, to be right at the 4th house cusp. The interpretation for this would be of chaos, panic and something record setting both in weather and mundane events. The Spanish Flu was a global event, a Pandemic that can be equated to the Pluto and Neptune parallel since there is a correlation to germs and disease just from the Civil War period. In the 1862-3 events, a major discovery having to do with germs in general is noted and in our approaching winter season, we may be dealing with germs, flu and again, more war.
SEASONAL INGRESS CHART FOR THE WINTER OF 1917-18 IN NEW YORK
The ingress of the Sun into a cardinal sign charts depict the beginning of a season and are good indicators of what is to be expected for the three month period. Let me point out that the two charts (eclipse and ingress) are only days apart and Mars rules both ascendants. First the ingress - Mars is in an approaching square to the Sun of the ingress chart (below) indicating war or violence, or the person in charge of the state having to deal with a crisis. The Sun is in an approaching opposition to Pluto, further intensifying war or violence.
Venus, the ruler of the 6th of public health is approaching a conjunction to Uranus raising the bar for the health of the general public where there are record-setting issues or chaos in this locale.
INVESTIGATION OF THE INGRESS, ECLIPSE & SOLAR MAP Winter 2005-6
By now, the correlation of the last two declination parallels of Neptune and Pluto in 1862 and 1917 are more familiar to you. Perhaps the upcoming four planet parallel will now have an impact on the reader that stimulates the curiosity factor all astrologers possess. Your observations, contributions, and comments will be greatly appreciated.
Please refer back to the declination graph of 2005-6. The stage is set for the entrance of the 'Magnificent Parallel'. We are not dealing with Saturn as a sustaining influence; I think we can be grateful for that bit of benevolence. There remains the impact of the Venus and Jupiter on the broad picture of Neptune and Pluto. We know that Venus and Jupiter are considered beneficial factors - can we count on this influence to lessen or increase the resulting events?
THE SOLAR ECLIPSE OF OCTOBER 3, 2005 - NEW YORK, NY
The media and government interest in a pandemic of bird flu began around the time of the eclipse and after the commencement of this article. At first glance we see 4 planets in the air sign Libra suggesting if there is disease it could be airborne. The ruler, Venus in the second house, rules the 8th (in Placidus houses). Venus is also in opposition to a stationed Mars that perfected October 1.
For a weather view of the eclipse chart, the 4th house can determine a forecast. Capricorn on the 4th with Saturn ruling brought heavy rains along the east coast and an early winter snowstorm to the Rocky Mountains. A trigger to the eclipse point will be in mid-November as Venus in Capricorn will square 10 Libra. The news at this time should reveal more of the eclipse events.
According to Bernadette Brady in her book The Eagle and The Lark, she writes about the power of this eclipse, a Saros Series 7 south, where huge obstacles suddenly and easily clear or a potential crisis will suddenly manifest very rapidly.
In addition, the geodetic location for 11 degrees of Libra is the ascendant for Bangkok, Thailand where in addition a 10 degree Cancer midheaven could be ominous for events connected with this eclipse.
CAPRICORN INGRESS OF THE SUN 2005
The chart below is located in New York City, NY but it changes very little at Washington DC. A grand fixed cross provides strong indications of weather and mundane events that have longevity or endurance. The Mars opposite Jupiter on the 1/7 house axis is a stormy combination, in square to Saturn in the 4th house of major weather influence that will bring dismal and violent weather. Neptune adds more to the dismal weather picture with anything from mists, fogs to flooding.
During the summer of 2005, the ingress chart carried the Saturn, Venus and Mercury trio in Cancer ultimately defining the horrendous season of hurricanes. A Moon Pluto conjunction in the 8th house did indeed portend the threat of death to the people. My hurricane forecast for 2005 included the phrase 'the season would be riddled with storms'. That forecast was developed in May, 2005.
In the winter ingress chart below, a Sun Pluto aspect in the 8th house is also as ominous when combined with the fixed cross. The ruler of the 4th house (main indicator for weather) the Moon, is opposite Uranus and square to Mercury. This is a very cold combination; keep in mind that the influence of Uranus often parlays the weather into record breaking events.
Addressing the issue of illness and disease, the 6 and 12th houses are ruled by the planets in the grand cross and also the T-square of Mercury, square to the Moon opposite Uranus. The sudden and rapid pace of events suggested in the solar eclipse Oct. 2005 may manifest during the season.
The impact of the winter chart will be of concern to the world. Will the general population heed the lessons of the hurricanes? Will the 'Magnificent Parallel" play out in war and disease or the greatness of new hope for health and peace on earth?
SOLARMAP -NEW MOON, JANUARY 29, 2006 **PERIGEE SUPERMOON
One of the important winter lunation charts is for the new Moon of January 29, 2006. The solarmap of the world shows the impact of planets on angles. It is interesting to find the chart for Bangkok, Thailand with Pluto on the 4th house cusp square to the Virgo ascendant.
All the charts for January and February should be examined. Not only is January 29th a **supermoon, it trines the October 2005 eclipse point. The cluster of planets viewed on the solarmap represents the position of planets on angles in charts around the world. This view gives the astrologer much to work with in deciphering the influences of the parallels and longitude aspects manifesting together in various locales.
Astrometeorologists and mundane astrologers have much work to do for this winter 2005-6 season. Next is a list of many planet aspects in January and February:
Mars at 15 Taurus Jan.15 2006
Mars contraparallel Neptune Jan 18, 2006
Mars parallel Saturn Jan 21, 2006
Jupiter square Neptune Jan 28, 2006 and parallel in March and April 2006
Neptune parallel Pluto Jan 28, 2006
Jupiter parallel Pluto Feb 1, 2006

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
During the parallel of Neptune and Pluto in 1808-9, the Red Cross was founded as well s the Sisters of Charity. Louis Braille was born and later invented the system of reading for the blind. During this time, the United States stopped the importing of slaves. It was also the birth of Abraham Lincoln. It was also the time of Napoleon.
The concentration of this article is mainly on the Neptune Pluto parallel and the effects of weather and mundane events based on the ingress and lunation charts for the winter period. There were other aspects to work with such as the contraparallel and more on geodetic positions as well as the work that could be done with well timed geographical foundation charts using transits, progressions and solar arc directions. I think the article is long enough to provoke or stimulate one's curiosity that will result in more analysis and observation and reporting
To all readers: if you have a well timed chart for your locale, please watch for the impact of the winter season (summer in the southern hemisphere), together we may add more to the evolving story, a story of our generations wars and diseases and peace and cures.
